Before Jesus moves on to some of the more “instructional” segments of His Sermon on the Mount, He takes time to establish a foundation – an understanding, if you will, of what our Jesus following life should look like … feel like.  So when we read and try to understand the rest of the teaching, we can and should continually look to the Beatitudes as a basis for how we should respond.  Doing that requires yielding to the Holy Spirit in all we do so that He can cultivate … in us, this Jesus following life.
