David’s soul and spirit warred against each other inside of him just like they do inside any of us.  When David allowed his immature flesh to get its way over his mature spirit, he sinned against God … he hurt people … he did terrible things.  And yet God saw him as a man after His own heart. Why?  Because God saw David and one who truly knew himself, and who knew God, through the transparency of his soul.
